I started working with Young People and Communities in November 1992. In 1996 I sort of decided that I quite enjoy this, so I went to university to get gain some credentials in this line of work I thought was interesting and enjoyable. In 1999 I graduated with a Diploma in Higher Education and a BA (Hons) and went off to work in my chosen profession.

23 years later I decide I might have a go at a Master’s degree in Youth Work & Management, which I did, and I managed to get one. It wasn’t really the degree I was after; it was the social aspect of coming out of covid and a massive refresh about what is Youth & Community Work all about. Well I made some new pals and refreshed my practice.

That second paragraph was an amazing experience. Thanks Nottingham Trent Uni, and Thanks to the University of Derby that was an amazing experience too, but it was ages ago, and I old now!

So, with all that said here I am, 33 years in to a career and still no closer to understanding why I am doing this!
